Nanosys, Inc. develops devices based on nanodots, nanotubes, and nanowires for performance gains in speed, sensitivity, power consumption, integration, and density for the Nanoelectronics, Optoelectronics, and Chemical molecular Sensing Industries. Under the leadership of Larry Bock as CEO and the great developed partnerships with Universities and Investors Nanosys is bound for the stars. Nanosys has raised $30 million in the first closing of its second round and has done a great job over the years of attracting various Tier 1 venture partners to include SAIC venture capital corp., Polaris ventures, CW group, Venrock associates, and ARCH venture partners.

This week Capital Hunter identified a total of 53 funding events in North America raising total of $2.392 billion in equity and debt.
The majority of these companies (46 out of the 53) are located in the United States. Below are the highlights:
46 - U.S. Companies Funded
Total capital raised was $2.057 billion with $612 million in equity and $1.445 billion in debt. California companies lead the nation with $128 million in equity capital raised Massachusetts companies followed with $121 million. Public companies raised a total of $307 million. Later stage private companies received $198 million and early stage private companies closed on $102 million. Startups get beat up again with only $5 million obtained nationally.

From the 46 companies financed, 31 are privately held and 15 are publicly traded companies. Total debt and equity in the capital markets increased this week, compared to last week, by 26%; however, venture capitalists slowed down their investments this week by 27% compared to last week and funded only 25 Companies for a total of $243 million. The average venture capital deal size this week was $9.72 million.
