KMV Technologies, a developer of next-generation video products and services, closed an $18 million Series A financing round. The round was co-led by Austin Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners and Redpoint Ventures.

This week Capital Hunter identified a total of 52 funding events in North America raising a total of $1.462 billion in equity and debt. Internationally, we identified 9 funding events raising a total of $125 million in debt and equity.

The majority of these companies (46 out of the 52) are located in the United States. Below are the highlights:

Total capital raised was $1.448 billion with $342 million in equity and $1.106 billion in debt. California companies received 55% of the total $342 million raised in equity raised in the United States.

From the 46 companies financed, 29 are privately held and 17 are publicly traded companies. Total debt and equity in the capital markets decreased this week, compared to last week, by 42%; Venture capitalists decreased their investments this week by 38% compared to last week and funded 25 Companies for a total of $221.2 million. The average venture capital deal size this week was approximately $9.04 million.
