WEEKLY FUNDING WATCH - June 6th thru June 12th

Below you will see an analysis of the prior weeks funding environment. Capital Hunter reviewed venture capital, private equity and debt financings for all private and public companies in the United States, Canada, and Internationally. Capital Hunter reviewed and presented the data by Industry, Geography, and Stages of Development.



This week Capital Hunter identified a total of 48 funding events in North America raising a total of $1.191 billion in equity and debt. Internationally, we identified 11 funding events raising a total of $83 million in equity.

The majority of the companies funded in North America (45 out of the 48) are located in the United States. Below are the highlights:

45 - U.S. FUNDED COMPANIES

Total capital raised was $1.185 billion with $385 million in equity and $800 million in debt. California companies received 39% of the total $385 million in equity raised in the United States. From the 45 U.S. companies financed, 27 are privately held and 18 are publicly traded companies. Total debt and equity in the capital markets decreased this week, compared to last week, by 65%; Venture capitalists decreased their investments this week by 27% and funded 22 Companies for a total of $265 million. The average venture capital deal size this week was approximately $12.03 million.

For the month of May, the total number of deals financed was 204 for a total of $8.458 billion which was a decrease of 17% from the prior month. The total number of venture capital deals for May was 104 for a total of $1.163 billion which was a decrease of 1% from the prior month.
