Over $450.52 million of venture capital was invested in 22 U.S based companies during this reporting period. 5 more companies raised venture capital than the preceding period and there was an increase of 317% in the total capital raised. The average deal size was approximately $20.48 million.

|
Geographically, Washington lead the nation, receiving more than 35% of total venture capital invested. California was home to the largest number of funded ventures (7) and one of the nation's top five deals. Following California was Texas, where 1 company raised $70 million. The largest financing in Washington this period was by United BioSoure Corp.

|
|
|
Nearly half (41%) of the venture capital invested this reporting period went to companies in the Biotech sector. Three (3) companies in this sector raised funding, led by a $153 million investment in United Biosource Corp., which provides science and evidence based services and information to the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
|
|
|
|
|
As shown in the chart below, 49% of the companies that raised venture capital this period are companies that raised their Series A round of funding. The largest Series A round of financing was by United BioSource Corp. for a total of $153 million equity from Oak Investment Partners and other venture capitalists.
