The largest private venture financing in California this period was into TargeGen. TargeGen raised $30 million and is a San Diego based vascular biotechnology company developing therapeutics for cancer, cardiovascular, ocular, and inflammatory diseases. |

The biotechnology sector raised 28% of the venture capital this period. Six biotechnology companies raised $111.02 million in venture financing. The largest private venture financing in the biotechnology sector this period was into Biolex Therapeutics. Biolex is a Pittsboro, North Carolina based biotechnology company currently developing complex proteins and monoclonal antibodies for medical use. |
